Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School

Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School is a non-profit, cooperative nursery school which is taught by teachers and run by parents. The school has a rich history, having been a part of the community since 1938. Although it is located at St. John's Church, the non-denominational school is independently operated.

The Program

The school is in session Monday through Thursday, from 9:00-11:45 a.m. for the 3 and 4-year old classes and 9:00-11:30 a.m. for the 2-year old class. Extended days are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the 3’s and 4’s, when students have the option to stay until 1:45 p.m. Each of the classes has its own curriculum which includes free play, crafts, and academic instruction. They also have a dedicated music teacher and a masters' art class for the 3 and 4-year-old classes.

Parent Participation

While classroom teaching is handled by highly qualified teachers, the administration of the nursery school is handled by a volunteer Executive Board comprised of parents. Additionally, parents are welcome to become class parents or participate in occasional classroom activities.
