St. John’s Student Enrollment & Volunteer Registration
Sunday School Enrollment and Volunteer “Teaching”
Enrolling your young person in Christian formation at St. John’s is a mouse click away! Follow the links on the formation page or at the end of the sections below. Enrollment will be open from August through June, and reminders will be sent out at the beginning of the Fall, the Winter, and the Spring.
In addition to enrolling your child, we encourage you to volunteer your time to help make these classes available, welcoming and fun. In Sunday School parlance you’d be called the teacher but you don’t have to be an expert, just willing to help. The responsibilities for volunteers differ with each program.
Children’s Chapel (for children in PreK through 3rd grade)
When you enroll your child in our Children’s Chapel we hope that you can sign up to be a co-teacher on any number of Sundays. There are two co-teacher openings available each Sunday. One is the greeter, who meets the children as they arrive, hands them a Children’s Chapel book, asks them about their week and if they are ready for Children’s Chapel. The Second co-teacher, with the help of the Curate, will provide the ideas and materials for the day’s craft or activity, based on the Godly Play lesson. Both co-teachers will remain with the children until the activity is completed and they return to their parents. Parents of children are always welcome to remain in Children’s Chapel, regardless of whether they are co-teachers or not. To enroll your child and/or volunteer to help, please click HERE.
Elements of Faith (for children in 4th through 6th grades)
On Sundays, students in this age range gather to have a discussion based on the day’s readings. A faithful parishioner has led this class for years but welcomes others to volunteer. Volunteers and youth review the readings with the help of The Sunday Paper and engage in a conversation guided by provided questions. Ideas for other activities that reinforce the readings may also be provided. With the approval of the clergy, volunteers are also welcome to offer a session on other scriptural themes. Values & Virtues (for young people in 7th through 12th grades)
Following a program designed to help junior and high school students explore the world around them, volunteers will join our lead teacher in reviewing the lesson for the week and help facilitate the conversation.
