Community Solidarity Needs Holiday Elves!
Community Solidarity needs extra volunteers to help at their Huntington Food Share during the holidays, especially on the following nights:
- Tuesday, December 20th (Toy & Food Distribution)
- Tuesday, December 27th (Food Distribution)
- Tuesday, January 3rd (Food Distribution)
In addition to food, Community Solidarity will be giving out toys on the 20th, so many hands will be needed. They also anticipate distributing more food than usual on the 27th and January 3rd because their suppliers typically donate large excess inventory after Christmas and New Years.
The Huntington Food Share is located at the intersection of Fairground Ave & E. 6th Street, and operates every Tuesday night. Volunteers gather at 7 pm to set up and the distribution of groceries begins at 8:15 pm. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, they have been using a drive-through format to keep people as safe as possible. Dress for the weather and wear work clothes — the food share operates rain or shine! Please also bring gloves and wear a mask.
For information about parking (important if you are driving) and to learn more about Community Solidarity’s inspiring work, please visit their website: www.communitysolidarity.org
Hope you’ll lend your hands and heart— any amount of time you can offer will be very much appreciated!
