Outreach Annual Meeting Report
St. John’s Outreach returned to a more normal in-person rhythm this year, continuing our work alongside community partners as they (and we) have responded to a post-pandemic world stressed in new and challenging ways.
2022’s inflationary economy has dramatically increased the cost of living on Long Island and beyond, exacerbating the growth in poverty, hunger and housing insecurity that began during Covid. Political instability worldwide, including in Ukraine and Haiti, caused disruptions and dislocations whose consequences continue to be felt. A string of natural disasters, including the hurricanes in Florida and Puerto Rico, created substantial needs for emergency relief.
True to our mission, St. John’s Outreach looked for ways to use our congregation’s human and financial resources to respond faithfully and effectively, especially in underserved areas, focusing whenever possible on gaps unfilled by larger organizations.
