Volunteer at the St. John's Day Camp, Aug 2.
Dear Friends,
The St. John's Day Camp is returning this summer! On Wednesday, August 2, 2023 we are happy to host the campers at our Church. If you would like to volunteer for the day, please reach out to Kerith Freidberg.
From now until mid August, we are collecting school supplies for the campers who begin Kindergarten in the fall. There will be a basket at the back of Church on Sundays for their supplies.
What Is the St. John's Day Camp?
Run by the Town of Huntington, the camp is named in our church's honor because the educational portion is made possible every year – for over 50 years – by you, our St. John’s parishioners. Available to families who fall below the poverty line, this no-cost camp is for many the first formal education their children receive before they attend kindergarten. For 6 weeks, campers get to experience traditional camp fun along with enrichment at a critical time in their development.
This year the need is as strong as ever. Your donations for this public-private partnership will underwrite teacher and staff salaries and cover field trip costs (including admissions and transportation). Approximately 50 children attend.
How can you Help?
You can volunteer and give. Sign up to do both by following the links below.
Every donation helps as it all goes to achieving our educational mission and determining the activities we are able to fund. We also love to have parishioners as “volunteers for an hour” – they make a big difference in inspiring these developing minds. Come see for yourself the wonder and impact of reading to a child, or participating in an art activity! If you’re interested, please reach out to Kerith Freidberg.
Please join us again this year as we honor our commitment to the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community by supporting us through this online donation form.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kerith Freidberg
