We Scream for Ice Cream! | St. John's Episcopal Church

On Wednesday evening July 26th, multiple generations of St. John's parishioners gathered for ice cream cones, sundae making and a run around the bluestone patio. Our very own retired Music Director Steve Finch, and his partner, Lydia happily scooped the donated Ben and Jerry's ice cream. It was a nice evening of conversation and company, enjoyed by all. The sundae topping of choice was gummi bears, with the overall consensus that classic vanilla ice cream always gets gobbled up first.

Thank you for everyone who participated.

We hope to have something another event popping (clue) for you in August....

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
