Join us to celebrate the start of another program year at St. John's!

Sunday, September 10, 2023, will be the first Sunday of our new year. Join us for spirited worship that will mark the choirs' return and the blessing of backpacks and school kids. Sunday School also begins with Sunday School for Kindergarten through third-grade children, concurrent with worship in the Sherwood Run and "The Breakfast Club," our Sunday school program for third through sixth graders kicking off at 9 AM in the Lee Room.

A potluck follows the church service. If your last name begins with the first letter A-R, please bring a side dish or a salad to share. If your last name begins with the letters S-Z, please bring a dessert to share.

Join us for this fun and festive start to a wonderful new year!

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
