2019 Parish Directory Coming Soon! | St. John's Episcopal Church

Dear Fellow Parishioners: We are happy to report a strong response to the information gathering project for our 2019 Directory. Our original plan was to have the printed version ready for distribution at the Annual Meeting on May 5. Due to a longer than estimated process of confirming parishioner information we now plan to distribute, to those who are listed in the directory, at the June end-of-year picnic and farewell to the Lebus Family on Sunday June 16. Thanks to all who've replied, and, to those who have yet to get your information in, please do so as soon as possible, as we can only include those who have given us permission in the printed directory. News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
