Music

Music is an important part of the ministry at St. John’s, helping to make every service a joyous and beautiful occasion. From the enthusiastic singing of hymns by the congregation to the choirs and handbell choirs, there are opportunities for all ages to become involved.

The program is led by our Director of Music, Bryce Westervelt, and Organist, Dr. Carol Weitner. Anyone interested in joining a group, or with a child wishing to participate, is welcome to contact the church office or the staff member directly. Church membership is not necessary to take part in the music program.

Chancel Choir

Open to all singers of high-school age and older. A hard-working and talented group of volunteers, they prepare two anthems for each Sunday service from September into June, drawn from a wide range of sacred music — Renaissance motets through spirituals — and present special programmes throughout the year.

Children’s Choirs

Younger singers learn to read music, to sing together, and to lead the congregation in worship.

Concerts by the Pond

Our concert series brings professional musicians to the church throughout the season.
