2020 Super Bowl Chili Cook-Off | St. John's Episcopal Church

Parishioners and staff are invited to submit their best chili recipe into competition for the title of “2020 STJCSH Chili Champ!”. The competition will be held during coffee hour. Samples will be offered for judging and quarts will be available to purchase for your own game-day party. The winner will be announced at Halftime of the Super Bowl on the St John’s Facebook page. Proceeds go to benefit Episcopal Relief and Development’s Puerto Rico relief efforts. Would-be chili contestants, please contact Seamus Mitchell ([email protected]).

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
