2022 Outreach Impact Summary
St. John’s Outreach’s impact is best measured in actions, not words. Here is some of what we accomplished in 2022:
- Monthly “Blue Bag” food collections supported the Community Food Council
- Spring and fall clothing drives for Gerald J. Ryan Outreach in Wyandanch helped families and homeless men
- Christmas “Adopt-a-Family” program, in partnership with the Youth and Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay/East Norwich, provided Christmas gifts for 3 families from their personal “wish lists”
- St. John’s Day Camp volunteers read with the children, played games, did art and music projects, and helped at the picnic
- Volunteers served at Community Solidarity’s food share in Huntington Station
- St. Matthias Committee held a successful movie night fundraiser in July and maintained regular contact to provide encouragement and support to our partner school (despite not currently being able to travel to Haiti)
- Matching grants for Ukraine Relief and Hurricane Relief leveraged our collective resources and offered parishioners a constructive way to help
- Volunteers distributed food and gifts at Housing Help's Three Kings Day Event in Huntington Station
- Financial grants totaling $60,627 supported our community partners:
Camp DeWolfe

- The Outreach Steering Committee met monthly and worked diligently to further Outreach goals and mission. Each member of the committee is responsible for nurturing relationships with community partners, staying abreast of current needs and conditions, and maintaining regular contact. The OSC provides support to St. John’s ministry leaders and committees and does significant homework to enable mission-focused decisions about how best to use Outreach funds.
