A Firm Foundation
St. John’s is very important to me and to my family and forms a foundation in our lives. A foundation that connects us to the bedrock of the community and we build our life on top of that and reach toward the heavens to connect with Jesus Christ and with God. The community of St. John’s is a rich fabric of people of all ages and the connection with people older and younger than us adds a vibrancy to our lives. Being in church (which we pray will continue to be able to open up, safely) is centering and fills me with peace, turning me back out into the world feeling better about it and myself, and making me a better person. For all of us, St John’s is there when we need it most, to celebrate a marriage, help us mourn and understand a death, to welcome new members with baptism and renew our own vows.
St John’s is also the foundation of our charitable giving and support, and I am proud to step up and make a pledge each year, to commit to what is truly important. The stewardship ideal, that all we have is a gift from God, is a healthy perspective and a reminder of how important the church, our bedrock, is in our life.
