Another Great Summer at the Day Camp!
This year’s St. John’s Day Camp brought together a wonderful group of children and staff for 6 weeks of learning and fun. The camp took place at Jack Abram’s School, which offered ample classroom space, a library, a large field, and playground. In addition, the camp was able to take field trips this year. Highlights included their trips to the Long Island Children’s Museum and to the Fish Hatchery and St. John’s Church.
Our parishioners once again stepped up to volunteer, sharing their time and talents. The children loved the yoga Sophie Lee taught them over multiple sessions. They would come in bursting with energy and by the end, they would be fully relaxed. Gina Jacobsen brought in wonderful books to read, and Maura Charles, Ellen Hatch and Alethea Freidberg helped create a special lunch event in Bleeker Hall for the campers. Susie Fairchild also continued her tradition of donating children’s books and setting up a special table where she helped each child select a special book to keep.
