Barbara Schubauer Memorial Reminder | St. John's Episcopal Church

Many of you will remember our beloved parishioner Barbara Schubauer, who passed into life eternal in December of 2023. Because her family were scattered all over the globe, we were unable to hold a memorial service to celebrate her life and commend her to God until now.

That service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 am. The service will also be streamed live on Zoom at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9178045312?omn=86023950854

If Zoom asks for a password, the password is “memorial” without the quotation marks.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
