Be careful! Its turtle laying season.
Each year in the last week of May and the first week of June all varieties of turtles leave the pond to find a place to lay their eggs.
These clutches of eggs can be found all along the pond edge, the spillway, and the rectory gardens. You may also encounter turtles in the act of laying, just as Phobe has in the accompanying image.
If you do, please be careful. The turtles are in a trance-like state and will not move, but they don't want to be disturbed. If you are out and about at the church keep an eye out for this amazing annual phenomenon.
