Beautiful Savior
I have shared recently in a couple of settings that, for me, the spiritual life is tied to being present in the present moment. As James Martin, the author of our lenten study book reminds us, spirituality involves a “long loving look at the real” as an essential part of becoming spiritually aware. Sunday just such an occasion.
I woke up feeling ill and not sure how I was going to make it through the morning, but as the morning unfolded it became a series of blessings. Our 8 AM service was beautiful and I was thankful for Jesse’s leadership of it so I could attend to it spiritually and fully. Our 10 AM service included a guest preacher, my old friend Pere Jeannot, our former Haitian partner and so I had the privilege of listening to a sermon, which was wonderful.
But, even more moving was the performance of “Blessed Savior” by our choir. I accidentally recorded it on my iPad and I am so thankful that I did. Take a listen and see if you too don’t find yourself transported to a deeper place in the midst of your day. It was transcendent and it brought the service to life in a deeply spiritual way. And I know I a not alone as some of you have shared that you too had a special moment at that point in the service.
Thank you to Steve and the Choir for this beautiful spiritual offering. Below is the link to the recording.
