Bill Parsons Memorial Reminder | St. John's Episcopal Church

Since Bill’s death in Florida on February 29, 2024, the Parsons family and the church have been working together to find a suitable day and time to celebrate Bill’s life. That service will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church (1670 Route 25 A, Cold Spring Harbor, New York.)

A reception in Bleecker Hall will follow the service.

The family has asked that, in thanksgiving for Bill and in recognition of his joy in living and his faith in the promise of life eternal given by God, the congregation wear spring colors to the service.

The service will be streamed live here. If you are asked for a password, the password is "Parsons" without the quotation marks.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
