Calling All Lay Readers!
We are inviting Lay Readers to offer their gifts of reading for the whole church in person after that date. If you would like to join this ministry, please let either George Lindsay, or Gideon Pollach know as soon as possible!
We will be scheduling Lay Readers for the summer shortly, so please feel free to update Ministry Scheduler Pro with your blackout dates.
Our service will have only two readings and a psalm as well as the Prayers of the People rather than three readings in order to try to limit the length of the service and exposure to COVID which increases with service length. Only one of those readings, the psalm, and the prayers of the people will be read by our lay reader. While all the readings will be posted on Ministry Scheduler Pro, only the Gospel, the psalm and either the Hebrew Scripture or Christian Epistle will be selected by the preacher in the days leading up to the service. We invite our lay readers to prepare by reading and preparing all three possible readings (the Psalm and either the Hebrew Scriptures or the Epistle) in advance of the service.
The prayers of the people will follow Form IV, but are dynamic and change up to the start of the service, so they will be available to lay readers on Sunday from the ushers or the clergy.
This is a temporary change, but we ask your patience as we continue to keep our community safe and regather for church at 10.
Finally, you will not need to register for church through REALM if you are the lay reader, please only register anyone who will accompany you. Sub requests can always be made through Ministry Scheduler Pro.
