Winter Coat Drive: 2024
Clean out those closets!
November 1-4, 2024
St. John's Church
Drop off in Parish House lobby
St. John’s Annual Coat and Winter Accessories Drive will be held November 1 - 4.
When you pull out your winter clothes, please save any warm coats and accessories no longer needed and consider donating them.
Our drive will help neighbors in need in the Wyandanch area. Donations will be distributed through the Gerald Ryan Outreach Center, a longtime St. John's partner. Due to the high cost of living on Long Island, Gerald Ryan, like so many of our outreach partners, has experienced a 35% increase in the clients they serve. As we approach the winter season, they anticipate having more clients than in years past. To find out more about the center and the great work they do, please follow this link to their website: https://geraldryanoutreach.org/
Below please find a list of the items we will be collecting:
- New Men's underwear and socks-all sizes are most needed.
- Men’s coats are especially needed, as well as women and children’s coats in all sizes.
- Men’s utilitarian clothing - long sleeve shirts, tee shirts, pants, sweatpants, jeans, hoodies, etc.
- Winter Accessories (children & adults) i.e. hats, gloves, mittens, scarves etc.
- Winter boots and/or cold weather shoes for children and adults
** All items should be clean, gently used, or even new.**
- Opportunities to Volunteer, to help sort, pack & bag items. Youths welcome, service hours
- Additionally, we will be having a “sorting party” on November 5th, 11am-1pm
- Youths are welcome to volunteer. This is a great service–hours opportunity.
