Music Ministry Sunday
September 15, during Coffee Hour

For many of us, music is one of the reasons we come to church. We raise our spirits through the rousing hymns and we reflect on scripture through their words. We give glory to God in our service music and we are transported to the heavenly court through the offerings of the choirs. Music is our very able partner in worship. Sunday, September 15 join us in coffee hour for "Coffee with a Purpose: Music Ministry Sunday" and hear about all the ways in which St. John's Music programs offer praise to God, and invite our community to go deeper in their spiritual life. This will be a time to reflect on the ministry of praise at St. John's and the ways in which they move us towards God.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
