Cold Spring Harbor Lab President/CEO on the Coronavirus

On Tuesday, May 11, Dr. Bruce Stillman, President and CEO of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, offered a briefing for several groups in our area on the current state of Coronavirus research, therapy, and prevention that is being led internationally by the Cold Spring Harbor Labs. As we look forward to the resumption of in-person worship and the loosening of travel restrictions it seemed as though this one-hour presentation would be very informative and helpful for our wider community. Special thanks to Trudy Calabrese, the Bath Club, the Huntington Country Club, and the Cold Spring Harbor Beach Club for this wonderful event.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
