Concerts by the Pond Honors Our Nation's Veterans

For its second concert of the 2018-19 season, Concerts by the Pond presents Douglas Major, internationally recognized organist, offering an organ recital in honor of and appreciation for our nation's veterans - past and present - on the100th anniversary of the Armistice of World War I. The program will include works by Hewitt, Copland and Sousa.
$20 donation for adults; free for children, students, and veterans.
Douglas Major has toured throughout North America, Europe and the Far East. From 1974 through the spring of 2002 he was Organist and Choirmaster of the Washington National Cathedral. He now lives in Salem, Mass., working as a concert artist and as a composer of music for organ, choirs, and chamber ensembles. Since 2003 he served as Music Director of St. Michael's Church in Marblehead, MA. Dr. Major's career has afforded him the opportunity to play with many great musicians, including Ravi Shankar, Leonard Bernstein, Mistislav Rostropovich, Dave Brubeck, Aretha Franklin, as well as Yo Yo Ma and Wynton Marsalis. For the last six Christmas seasons, Major has toured across the US as the accompanist for Elizabeth Von Trapp, playing in over 35 cities.
