Confirmation Classes begin this Week! | St. John's Episcopal Church

It is time for our annual Confirmation classes! They start on Oct. 20, soon after our 10:00 am service, and it will be hosted this time at St. John’s of Huntington at 12:00 noon. There is no registration! Just show up. If you can give us an indication whether or not your child can attend, it will help us plan for lunch.

Parents of eligible children should have received an email from me this week about the schedule for the year, and in that email is an invitation for an informational meeting for parents; it will be on Wednesday (10/16) from 7:00 – 7:30 pm. Please try to make these meetings.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
