This Sunday is Day Camp Sunday!
May 2, 2021, after the 10AM Service
A special Zoom coffee hour.
Please join to learn more about the St. John's Day Camp from our special guest Kevin Thorbourne, Director of Minority Affairs for the Town of Hungtington.
We are excited to announce that the St. John’s Day Camp, a Town of Huntington-run program for families in need that our parish helps fund, is operating this summer. The program was also able to run last summer, but in a limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
With all the disruptions in learning students have experienced over the past year, this camp is more crucial than ever. Not only does it provide a wonderful no-cost camp for children in low-income families, it also provides them with an educational boost at a critical time in their development. Academic enrichment helps prepare the 4, 5, and 6-year-old campers for kindergarten and 1st Grade.
As always, we are so grateful for the incredible generosity of our parish, which has supported this outreach program for over 50 years. And we welcome volunteers! While we may not be able to do in-person visits, we invite you to be creative. We can ‘Zoom’ and share special talents, or create craft kits to send to the campers. We are only limited by our imaginations. Please email Kerith Freidberg ([email protected]) if you’d like to get involved this summer and make a difference in these young children’s lives.
