Garden: Winners & Losers! | St. John's Episcopal Church

Last week was the glorious garlic week - but this week the garden was besieged! We seem to have both rabbits and squash vine bores attacking our plants.

But we cannot be easily dissuaded! So Richard spent some time attacking the vine bores, and I patched the fence. Warren turned over the beds for re-planting fall crops. Chery harvested Cucumbers and beets! We did manage to harvest 10 lbs of cucumbers! We have half-sour dill pickles for sale on Sunday at 8 am.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
