Godly Play Book Group | St. John's Episcopal Church

Thursdays, May 6 and May 20, at 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

One of the foundational books about Godly Play is "Teaching Godly Play: How to Mentor the Spiritual Development of Children," by Jerome Berryman. Join this group to read the book together with the guidance of a Godly Play trainer. This is a two-session series with meeting from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm (ET). The meetings will take place on Thursdays May 6 and May 20. Each session participants will read and discuss four chapters.

This book study is limited to 15 participants so that everyone has an opportunity to interact more with the trainer.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
