Grow to Give Garden

After a fallow year in our vegetable garden, we now look towards next year as a year of harvest.

Bring your work gloves and join us on October 12 from 9:00 – 11:00 am as we re-set the garden (which is overrun with weeds) for spring plantings! Donuts and cider will be served. Pumpkin painting for kids make it an outing for all ages too.

The GTG Garden is on the campus of St. John’s on the east side of the pond. There we Grow fresh vegetables To Give (GTG) to people who are food insecure. What a wonderful way to use some of our land!

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
