Haitian Fete — Silent Auctions | St. John's Episcopal Church

Thanks to all parishioners who have supported our partner school of St Matthias School in Deslandes, Haiti in connection with last week's Dinner and Movie Night. Silent Auctions items remain open for bidding and tickets for our Raffle Baskets remain on sale. All items are in the church vestibule. Feel free to bid any time the church is open, and to purchase raffle tickets either online or by contacting Peter Charles ([email protected]) or Heather Spehr ([email protected]) or at coffee hour after church this Sunday. The raffle drawing will be drawn at coffee hour on July 24th, and the Silent Auction items will be closed out and awarded at that time as well. Feel free to spread the word and we thank you so much on behalf of the children of St Matthias!

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
