Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
Saturday, Oct 27, 2018, 10 am - 2 pm
Bleecker Hall, St. John's Church
Please help our St. John's Community address a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. The rate of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. is alarmingly high, as is the number of accidental poisonings and fatal overdoses. Studies show that a significant number of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines - flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash - both pose potential safety, environmental and health hazards.
So bring your unused, unwanted, or expired drugs to St. John’s Bleecker Hall on October 27 – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Together with N.Y. State Senator Carl L. Marcellino, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Oyster Bay Cove Police Department and the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department, we will dispose of these substances in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
