Historic Storm Clean-up
The Gospels are filled with images of storms and pruning - Jesus stills storms and calms savage nature, and Jesus speaks of the needs for constant pruning in our faith journey.
Isaias reminded us of the need for both. In the midst of the storms of life, it is a comfort to put our faith and trust in Jesus. And, if we don't pro-actively attend to our faith, the storms of our life, both figurative and literal, will shape our faith for us. But, we have resources to rebuild and can rely on others as we rebuild, clear and prune.
Isaias was a historic storm which reshaped our church grounds in dramatic ways. Similarly the clean-up required heroic aides in getting our grounds cleared and returned to some semblance of order.
The church received several bids that were all reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Vestry and the work was awarded to Kiels tree service who attended to the work this past Thursday and Friday.
Kiels is the only tree company on Long Island with the equipment in these photos, particularly the remote controlled articulated crane-chainsaw-grabber from the video below. The crane arm extends to 120 feet and is capable cutting and lifting whole trees. The video below gives some sense of the work they accomplished.
It was amazing - especially if you, like me, like big trucks.
