Interfaith Teen Gathering: Sharing the Story of Christmas

Teenagers of different faiths are joining together in the third of three gatherings organized by the Woodbury-Syosset Interfaith Clergy Council. Teens and clergy leaders from St. John's will lead a brief program to tell the story of Jesus' birth, discuss God's presence among us and consider the themes of human vulnerability, migration and homelessness.

There will be icebreakers and fellowship, as well as dinner. Together the teens will make lunch bags for the homeless in our community, to be distributed by the Family Service League of Huntington. Service hours will be available.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
