Ambitious Multi-Instrumental Quartet Makes Highly Anticipated Return to Long Island

Austin-based, multi-instrumental quartet Invoke - whose music weaves together threads of classical technique, folk improvisation, and musical camaraderie and who the Austin Chronicle says "infuse[s] their performances with such a down-home joyfulness" - will be presented in concert on Long Island by Concerts by the Pond, for the first time since 2019. The performance will take place this Saturday, March 2nd at 8 pm.

In addition to performing original works - including selections from their Sono Luminus debut album Evolve & Travel - Invoke will perform Enigma for the Night by Jocelyn C. Chambers and Tenebrae by Osvaldo Golijov.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
