Lenten Series 2024
Attending to Creation. Attending to God.
Wednesdays in Lent
Beginning Wednesday, February 28, 2024
About eight years ago, St. John's committed to cultivating a spirituality connected to creation. Many think of a creationist spituality as a "green" theology, But we are surrounded by water and earth, thus we coined the term "BlueGreen Thology." "BlueGreen Theology" is a spirituality and practice of caring for creation as worship and devotion.
This Lent, we will welcome guest speakers over four weeks to deepen our practice of BlueGreen Theology.
Our speakers will be:
- February 28: The Rector, the Very Rev. Gideon L. K. Pollach
- March 6 : Amanda Furcall, Landscape Ecologist at the Sisters of St. Joseph Campus in Brentwood, & Sister Karen Burke of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood,
- March 13: Rusty Schmidt of Nelson Pope Voorhis Engineering who is the designer of our Meditation Garden
- March 20: Ms. Rita Griffiths, co-chair our the Creation Care Community of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Islannd.
The series will occur on four consecutive Wednesdays beginning on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30 PM in Bleecker Hall. Mark your calendars to join us!
