Casual Garden Cleanup | St. John's Episcopal Church

Come out this Saturday for some casual work in and around the Garden. We'll pick up stick, rake some leaves, and maybe even plant some peas! We'll keep an eye on the weather and postpone if it's too rainy.

During the season of Lent we spend forty days getting ready for joy of Easter. It's a perfect time to start getting ready for the joy of Spring as well. We are looking for new members of the St. John's Grow-to-Give Garden team.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
