Mary Nicholas Concert: A Christmas Tradition
Sunday, December 8 at 5 pm
St. John's Church
St. John's Church
This year’s concert will feature Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël for solo voices, choir, strings, organ and harp. The work, sung in Latin, is based on texts from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms and Gospels, as well as the Catholic Christmas liturgy. A distinctive chamber music-like instrumentation, combined with lyrical solo and choral parts, create a pastoral mood, leading this Christmas Oratorio to become one of the most performed works by Saint-Saëns. By tradition, this annual concert is offered as a gift to the congregation and community, so please invite your friends to hear this splendid presentation. A free-will offering will be taken to help ensure this fine tradition continues. Reception will follow in Bleecker Hall. Please note different time from last year.
