Meditation Garden Dedication

Join us in dedicating our long-awaited Meditation Garden! The garden is the creative vision of Dr. Steve Finch and given in loving memory of his late wife, Irene Gubrud Finch. It features native plantings and specimen trees in a design realized by Rusty Schmidt, a renowned designer and horticulturalist. The structures are lovingly and carefully built from material that had been on the garden's site prior to construction.

This afternoon's dedication service will be a formal opportunity to thank donors, volunteers, contractors, and others whose work has been instrumental in realizing this beautiful addition to our stunning campus.

The garden provides another beautiful lens through which we can see God's glory being lovingly poured into our lives through the beauty of creation.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
