Messiah Sing Raises Over $1000
A Community Tradition: Handel’s Messiah Sing Raises Over $1,000 for St. Matthias School & Church in Haiti
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, St. John’s Episcopal Church was filled with the joyous sound of Handel’s Messiah during its 2nd annual Messiah Sing. This cherished community event brought together a chamber orchestra, outstanding soloists, and a spirited audience-led chorus composed of parishioners and singers of all ages and abilities from across the area.
The orchestra performed beautifully, while soloists James, Chloe, Lisa, and Max delivered stunning renditions of Handel’s timeless arias. The community chorus of audience members, with voices blending harmoniously, added to the magic of the afternoon, showcasing the shared love of music and fellowship that defines this annual tradition.
Following the performance, attendees enjoyed a festive reception featuring Christmas cookies and hot apple cider, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere to cap off the day.
This year’s Messiah Sing also made a meaningful impact beyond the music, raising over $1,000 to support St. Matthias School & Church in Deslandes, Haiti. These funds will provide much-needed resources for the Haitian community, embodying the holiday spirit of generosity and care.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated, or simply came to listen and celebrate. Together, we not only created a memorable musical experience but also extended the reach of our community’s goodwill.
Mark your calendars now for next year’s 3rd annual Messiah Sing, when we look forward to once again packing St. John’s Church with voices raised in song, celebrating the season in music, fellowship, and joy.
