Ministry Leadership Days: Lectors & LEMs | St. John's Episcopal Church

In support of the worship ministries that collaborate to offer compelling and beautiful worship each week, Gideon & Mary Beth will be offering Ministry Leadership sessions for training, reflection and renewal for:

Lectors: Saturday, September 7, from 11 am - 1 pm *
Lay Eucharistic Ministers: Saturday, September 7, from 12 - 2 pm *
(please note that the Lectors and LEM sessions intentionally overlap for a shared light lunch)

A reminder email for both sessions will be going out on Monday, September 2 - please reply to confirm you attendance. Anyone interested in joining either ministries is encouraged to attend one of these Ministry Leadership sessions - please contact Sue Waiter ([email protected]) to let her know you plan to attend.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
