The first meeting of our 2018 Oyster growing season. Many of us love to eat oysters, but did you know they provide an incredible benefit to our local marine ecosystems? Come and learn how growing oysters can help restore health to our most important neighbor: Cold Spring Harbor.

St. John's has adopted two cages. That's over 2,000 oysters that we will help to grow between May and October. We clean our cages and measure the oysters every two weeks and we need your help.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
