2019-20 Confirmation Parent's Info Meetings - THIS SUNDAY!

Sunday, October 13, 9 am - Conference Room

Confirmation is the sacrament of the Episcopal Church in which those baptized as children are given a chance to confirm Christian affiliation for themselves. St. John’s practice has been for young people who are entering at least 7th grade to prepare for confirmation through a series of courses and community service activities. Confirmation will take place in May of 2020. Classes will be on Sunday at 4 pm. Schedule will be forthcoming.

All parents interested in learning more about confirmation should attend the Info Meeting on Sunday, October 13 at 9 am in the Conference Room.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
