Parishioner Appointed to Bishop's Commission
St. John’s parishioner Deirdre Butterfield has been appointed to serve on the Bishop’s Racial Justice and Reconciliation Commission, for the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. She, along with seven other individuals from across the Diocese, was welcomed by Bishop Provenzano and existing members of the Commission at a Liturgy Service at the Mercer School of Theology on May 30. Deirdre, who recently retired from her position in the Office of the Town Attorney, Town of Huntington, brings a unique blend of legal and policy skills to her desire to address racial justice and to bring about racial reconciliation. All of us at St. John’s are delighted that Deirdre has volunteered and was selected to serve on this important Commission.
