Pastoral Note: Walter L. Stackler

Dear Friends,
Walter L. Stackler, beloved husband of Lucy and long-time parishioner at St. John’s, died on February 10, 2025 after a period of illness. Walter died at home, surrounded by the care and love of his family. He was 88.
A complete and formal pastoral note will follow, but we wanted to get the word out to our parish family as soon as possible so that you can keep Walter, Lucy, and their families in your prayers.
Lucy and her children are making plans for a service in thanksgiving for Walter’s life this spring, but those plans are not yet complete. As they are, we will share them with the community.
Meanwhile, please join me in prayer for Walter and his family:
Gracious God, nothing in death or life, in the world as it is or the world as it shall be, nothing in all creation can separate us from your love. We commend Walter into your loving care. Enfold him in the arms of your mercy. Bless him in his dying and in his rising again in you. Bless those whose hearts are filled with sadness, that they too may know the hope of resurrection; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Gracious God, grant to Lucy and all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to face the future with assurance and patience, not as those who are without hope, but in thankful remembrance of your loving-kindness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life in your presence, with those they love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, risen in glory. Amen.
Yours,
Gideon
