Pentecost: Celebrating the Holy Spirit | St. John's Episcopal Church

Sunday, June 9

Come and celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit on the 50th day after Easter. The Holy Eucharist service 10 am will feature the Acts of the Apostles lesson read in multiple languages. Please contact Gideon if you know a foreign language and would like to participate in the service.

Also, at the 10 am service both Junior and Primary Choirs will perform a special music offering and will be recognized for their dedication to the music ministries of St. John's throughout the year. Be sure to join us for this celebration and don't forget to wear RED!

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
