Please welcome Andrew Garnett!
Dear Friends,
Please join me in welcoming to St. John's Andrew Garnett who will serve as St. John's next Parish Administrator beginning on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Andrew has been working for the past several years at several colleges (Manhattanville College, Manhattan College, Suffolk County Community College, SUNY Old Westbury, SUNY Westchester, St. John's University, and Mercy College) as a faculty member (and in one case as department chair) in the Departments of Philosophy teaching ethics, moral philosophy and a host of other courses. He is a graduate of Catholic University, the Gregorian University in Rome, and the Academia Alfonisana also in Rome.
Before his work in higher education, Andrew was for a brief time a parish priest at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in West Islip, New York. Andrew is married and is the father of twins.
All of us who had the chance to interview Andrew recognized this remarkable opportunity to hire for this position a person with deep knowledge of the work of the church, someone with a great sense of humor, a pastoral heart, and a theologians mind to support us in the work ahead of us or rebuilding and healing after the COVID-19 crisis.
Andrew will be working full-time at St. John's from Monday with 3 days in the office and two days remote from home. Andrew will be able to be reached at his new email address [email protected] or at extension 10 from Monday. Summer will provide Andrew a great opportunity to ramp up into the role and we appreciate your kindness and forbearance as he begins this new work this coming week.
Welcome, Andrew!
