Project Toy A Big Success
Thank you to all of our St. John's families for participating and donating to Project Toy! Project Toy is a joint effort sponsored by Tri CYA and the Family Service League: both organizations St. John's supports through their Outreach efforts. The program gives local families the opportunity to choose two new unwrapped presents for each of their children. Lindsay Kamdar and I felt a bit like Santa's Elves, as we hoisted the large bags of gifts generously donated by the St. John's parishioners into Lindsay's car. We were greeted with much gratitude when we dropped the gifts off at Tri CYA.
In addition to donating toys, volunteers assisted in sorting and wrapping the presents for the families. My son and I signed up to wrap gifts together which was both a bonding and rewarding experience for the two of us. Parents shared names and pictures of their families as we wrapped gifts, allowing us to visualize happy and excited children opening up a present on Christmas morning. Lindsay Kamdar also volunteered to wrap presents at this event and said of her time there, "It was the most rewarding thing I have done in a long time. Being able to connect with the families themselves really personalized and added to the overall experience. I look forward to getting more involved at Tri CYA."
Project Toy is only one way Tri CYA supports our local community. Please see the website for additional ways to help!
