St. John's Day
Seeking God Together

October 23, St. John's Day, is a banner day in the life of this church. Together we will celebrate the anniversary of our church's founding adhering as always to our beloved traditions. In both services, we will distribute our traditional St. John's Day Buttons and thank God for another year of mission and ministry together through this church.

After the 10 am service, we will enjoy a festive coffee hour complete with our traditional St. John's Day cakes!

We look forward to seeing you for St. John's Day!

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
