Rectory Restoration Work Underway
Many have likely noticed the presence at the Rectory of construction vehicles from Koran Landscaping. They are present to execute a plan approved by the Vestry to begin the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Rectory retaining walls and barn area.
The initial stage of the plan is the construction of a series of retaining walls and berm structures to naturalize the hillside where the barn stood before the fire. These areas will be planted in a way that enhances the rectory property and provides privacy from Route 108. The second phase of the project will also begin this spring. It will focus on removing standing dead trees from in front of the rectory and then replanting the edge of the property to provide for some specimen trees and increased screening from 25 A. Many of the trees to be removed have been severely damaged in recent storms, are at the end of their lifespan, or are unsafe. Some are all three. Particular care and attention is being paid to care for and maintain the majestic sycamores that are present on the property.
Koran Landscaping has been awarded this contract based on previous work done at the Memorial Cemetery following a bidding process.
Proceeds from the insurance settlement cover all of this work. A barn is not being built at this time.
