This Sunday, March 19, 2023, the Fourth Sunday in Lent, is Refreshment Sunday. Refreshment Sunday is the Sunday in Lent marked by the church during which our Lenten practices of repentance and abstinence from frivolity takes a well earned vacation.
Traditionally we mark Refreshment Sunday at St. John's with our annual offering of a kids musical. This year's show is "In the Image" a show about a group of children who have just experienced the story of The Creation. And now they're starting to wonder what it really means to be created in the image of God.
Through humorous, earnest exploration, the children discover that being created in the image of God isn't about physical appearance. It's about creativity, faithfulness, responsibility, community, and the ability to find the good in things.
Our choristers have been working on this show for months and we hope that you will come and see it in performance in our 10 AM service on March 19.
