Regathering update: June 17, 2021
June 17, 2021
Dear Friends,
On Tuesday New York hit a milestone on our path to fully reopening- a 70% vaccination rate. All of us welcomed the news that the governor shared changing significantly the state guidelines and restrictions related to COVID 19.
On Wednesday Bishop Provenzano also released updates to our diocesan guidelines. Beginning today, there are no longer restrictions on capacity nor requirements for contact tracing or social distancing at St. John’s.
For us, this means that our space is now fully open for all who care to regather on Sundays without the need to sign-up in advance. We will also have all the pews available for our parishioners without any closures. Contact tracing is also no longer required.
These are significant steps towards a new normal and we welcome them.
Given the intergenerational composition of our community and the fact that many in our larger community still cannot be vaccinated due to health, age, or personal choice, masks are still required in the church at this time.
As we progress towards the end of this pandemic and more changes are announced we will adjust our practices accordingly.
I hope you welcome this news as much as I do. Hoping to see you soon,
Gideon
