Reopening Task Force - Register For Listening Sessions
Next week there will be three opportunities to gather with Vestry leaders and our regathering committee members to listen to the congregation about their concerns and thoughts about our regathering for worship at 10 AM. You can register for one of three Zoom listening sessions here:
Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 7:00 PM.
Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 7:00 PM, and
Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM or following the 10 AM service on Zoom, whichever comes first.
As you all know, we have had public worship since July of last year, first outside as the weather permitted, and then inside starting in September. That public worship was at 8 AM so that we could continue to support a fuller program of readers, music and lay leadership from home for those who were unable to attend the 8 AM in person.
Now, with the increased availability of vaccines for COVID-19 and more relaxed guidelines from the CDC, many in our community are interested in returning for in-person worship at 10 AM as well. Obviously, we all want to be together, but returning for public worship will be quite different from the church services that we enjoyed together before the pandemic. It will also have major impacts on our ministry teams.
Additionally, there is still a very high risk of contracting and spreading COVID illness in our community - especially among young and unvaccinated people.
We are committed, as in all things, to hear from our congregation in meaningful ways as we plan for the future.
These sessions will assess our community’s eagerness to return to worship at 10 AM, what kinds of restrictions and accommodations our community is willing to tolerate to return to public worship, the character of the services and their impact on our program moving forward, and how we will continue to serve our parishioners who rely on our online services as a means of worshiping and staying connected.
I know this is a topic of great interest to many of us, so I hope many of you will join us for one or all of the sessions.
Gideon Pollach, Rector, and Seamus Mitchell, Senior Warden
